A Neapolitan Cake Recipe with Cream Cheese Frosting. So if you want to get technical... Neapolitan is a mixture of Chocolate, Strawberry, and Vanilla. This is notexactlythat mixture, but it's close enough and the name stuck! I've done five of these cakes since first posting the picture on Facebook, so I'd say it's a hit!

PS. Don't miss it... you can see a video tutorial of doing the buttercream ruffles here.!
The idea was born when my husband asked if I could do both strawberry and chocolate cake... in one cake. He's weird like that (wink, wink!!). Honestly, I don't evenlikestrawberry cake, so this idea did not appeal to me, but when it comes to my wonderful hubby... I aim to please!

So within a week or two, he asked if I could do a Sunny Meadow retirement cake for Bob. I saw this as my opportunity so I asked if I could do the chocolate-strawberry combo for that cake. He said, "Yes please!"
Cream Cheese frosting is also his favorite frosting, so I made sure to use that as the filling for that cake. It was a hit... and this cake was born!
So, here's how I do it. Note: this recipe will make a 2-layer 9 or 10" cake.
First, make (1) recipe of Strawberry Cake.
Next, make (1) recipe of Chocolate Cake.
Last, make (1) recipe of Cream Cheese frosting(you'll probably have extra of this - you may want to half it!?).
Plop them into (2) prepared 9" or 10"pans alternating... sort of like making a Tie-Dyed Cake. I use homemade Cake Pan release (homemade Baker's Joy) to prep my pans!
Then bake at 325° for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean! Cool in the pans for 10 minutes then flip onto a cooling rack to finish cooling. You can also make them into cupcakes! You'll end up with around 5 dozen total if you do half/half strawberry chocolate in each cupcake liner!

To decorate the cake you can do it like this video:

Then smear that yummy cream cheese frostingall over... or do roses or ruffles (video of doing ruffles here).
And that's it!!
